Here are some links to some of our favorite sites:

View of Hoonah from Port Fredrick Sound:

Hoonah is a small, friendly town of about 900 people, with a nice airport (about a 20 minute flight from Juneau) and boat harbor. It is also a regular stop on the Marine Highway system (State Ferries).

We are happy to recommend a few other charter operators who will be operating in Hoonah next summer:
G-Wind Charters Shawn and Teresa not only do fishing or whale watching charters, they also have a cabin available for multi-day trips!
Tok River Outfitters In the early spring and fall Capt. Chris does bear hunts, but he is available for fishing and whale watching charters during the summer.

F.I.S.H.E.S. Floyd and Marge Peterson do whale watching tours only.  Floyd has a great boat and has no problems finding whales, and other sea life on his tours.

To help with making arrangements for visiting:

Alaska Airlines The closest town to fly into for Hoonah is Juneau. Alaska Airlines flies direct from Seattle to either of these towns. Then it is just a 20 minute flight to Hoonah on Wings of Alaska or 3 hours by Alaska Marine Highway (ferry).

Wings of Alaska

Wings of Alaska has many flights daily between Hoonah and Juneau. But do be aware they only allow 50lbs of baggage per person free, so there will probably be extra fees when taking fish home!

Alaska Marine Highway

The ferry is a great way to see Southeast Alaska. From Juneau to Hoonah on the ferry it takes about 3 hours, not bad when there is so much to see! Plus there are no extra fees involved with extra baggage.
